Urgent: Albania Hit by Deadly Earthquake
Join us as we pray for our brothers and sisters in Albania

On Nov. 29, 2019, Albania was struck by one of the strongest earthquakes to hit that nation in more than 40 years.
The 6.4 magnitude earthquake was felt in the western port city of Durres, and in places as far away as Taranto and Belgrade. More than 40 people are reported dead and 4,000 people have been displaced due to structural damage to buildings.
Two weeks later, Albanians are trying to rebuild and move forward as best they can. Local churches are working to provide emergency food supplies and rescue teams continue to work around the clock.
Albanians are hurting. But in these hard times, we turn to God’s Word to remind us of the comfort and hope made available through Jesus. In 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 it says:
“We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair; there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.”
God has not forgotten the people of Albania. Let’s pray that God will surround them with his love and help them on their journey to healing.
4 Ways to Pray for Albania:
- Pray for the people. Ask God to heal those who have been injured, physically and emotionally. Help those who have suffered great loss.
- Pray for the rescue efforts. Ask God to strengthen all those involved in the recovery process and relief programs.
- Pray for the government. Ask God to give wisdom to the government as it decides how best to help those affected by the earthquake, including those whose homes have been destroyed.
- Pray for the church. Pray that local churches will be a beacon of light and hope during these trying times. Pray that God’s Word will bring comfort to many.
