A Special Day to Pray for Bible Ministry Around the World: 2021

Join us on May 9, 2021 as we pray for Bible Societies working to share God’s Word

Each year on May 9, Bible Societies around the world unite in a global day of prayer. On this day, the United Bible Societies, a global fellowship of around 150 Bible Societies spread across 240 countries and territories, spend time thanking God for powerfully working through our ministries to make his Word available. We also pray for God’s guidance for ongoing efforts which include Bible translation, production, distribution, advocacy, engagement, and holistic ministry.

The annual day of prayer is held on the anniversary of the United Bible Societies’ founding in 1946. This year marks 75 years since United Bible Societies began serving together to carry out the mission of making the Bible available to everyone. Praise God! His grace has enabled us to bring the life-changing message of God’s Word to the world for 75 years!

But none of this can be done without prayer.

Your prayers have helped United Bible Societies persevere in Bible ministry during challenging times, including the COVID-19 global pandemic. Thank you. We are so grateful for you.

As we look ahead to the next era of Bible ministry, we invite your prayers for our continued work in reaching the world with God’s Word. Take some time on May 9 to pray for Bible Societies and to thank God for his continued guidance in this critical work.

3 Prayers for Bible Societies

Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and unfailing love to Bible Societies for 75 years.

How good it is to give thanks to you, O Lord,
to sing in your honor, O Most High God,
to proclaim your constant love every morning
and your faithfulness every night,
with the music of stringed instruments
and with melody on the harp.
Your mighty deeds, O Lord, make me glad;
because of what you have done, I sing for joy. – Psalm 92:1-4 (GNT)

Lord, help Bible Societies endure. Strengthen their hands for ministry.

May you be made strong with all the strength which comes from his glorious power, so that you may be able to endure everything with patience. And with joy give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light. – Colossians 1:11-12 (GNT)

Lord, protect Bible Societies from those who oppose the message of Christ and from every form of sickness and disease.

The Lord is our protector and glorious king,
blessing us with kindness and honor.
He does not refuse any good thing
to those who do what is right.
Lord Almighty, how happy are those who trust in you! – Psalm 84:11-12 (GNT)
