In August, United Bible Societies—a global alliance of Bible Societies operating in more than 200 countries and territories—unveiled a digital copy of the Nepali New Revised Version of the Bible. The release of the digital translation serves as a step forward in the relief process for the Nepalese people, who continue to suffer from limited resources and damaged infrastructure in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.
The digital Nepali New Revised Version represents the 300th completed Bible in the Digital Bible Library, a Scripture database comprised of nearly 1,100 full and partial Bible translations used to support countless ministries worldwide. Thanks to this digital translation, web developers have the ability to create and modify apps that will help the Nepalese people experience God’s Word in a new and meaningful way: through web and mobile apps.
Already, hundreds of millions of people use services like Bibles.org—which links to 658 Scripture Portions—and the YouVersion app—which links to 752 Scripture Portions—to read the Bible using a translation, language and device of their choice.
Now, with the help of digital developers around the world, the Nepalese people will have the opportunity to join them.
