Answered Prayer: The Radio Brings Healing to Rwanda

Survivors of Rwanda’s genocide find hope through audio Bible-based trauma healing

Thank you for praying for Rwandans to find healing through the power of God’s Word.

The genocide that devastated this nation in 1994 left deep, long-lasting wounds. But thanks to your faithful prayers, hope is making its way into the hearts and minds of suffering Rwandans.

Over the past year, Bible-based trauma healing sessions have been shared over radio waves. Through storytelling and the power of Scripture, these radio programs address topics including coping with suffering, forgiving the unforgivable, and inviting Jesus in to heal brokenness.

So far, the 13-episode program, which airs on four radio stations in the Kinyarwanda language, is touching lives across Rwanda. More than 847,000 people have listened to the audio trauma healing program and 1,873 people have joined 103 healing groups.

Benjamin’s Story of Forgiveness

Every year in April, Rwandans spend a week in mourning to commemorate the lives lost to genocide. For Benjamin*, a genocide survivor, this week is spent crying as he relives those moments of terror.

But after hearing the trauma healing program over the radio, something incredible happened to Benjamin. As he learned that Jesus offered his life for the forgiveness of our sins, the heavy chains of bitterness and anger began to loosen their grip on his heart. Sadness was replaced with peace. Benjamin was set free from the pain he had been carrying for more than 20 years.

“I am proclaiming that forgiveness made me a teacher of forgiveness—as Jesus forgave us,” says Benjamin. His transformation was so powerful, Benjamin not only forgave his perpetrators, he is now bringing them food in prison!

Let’s Pray Together:

God, thank you for taking Benjamin’s sadness and despair and replacing it with peace. We pray that you will comfort Rwandans grieving such great loss. Please restore their joy, security, and hope. We pray for Rwanda to be a nation of peace, filled with God’s healing presence.
