Many Haitians like Samuel* live in a constant struggle for survival in one of the poorest countries in the world. But the horrors Samuel faced were much darker than just financial woes. As a child, he even had his life threatened by practitioners of witchcraft who lived nearby.

Samuel knew he needed to make a change in his life. Eventually, he made the choice to leave his home in Haiti and try to find a new life and safety in the Dominican Republic.

Thanks to our faithful partners, Samuel found the hope and spiritual protection he was looking for in the Bible.

In the Dominican Republic, Samuel experienced the Bible in new ways that inspired him and gave him comfort. He watched the JESUS Film, participated in an audio Bible listening group, and was even able to receive his own first Bible in his heart language, Haitian Creole. He is one of thousands of people in the Dominican Republic who received the Bible last year through he generosity of friends like you.

Samuel cherishes the Bible he received. He says, “It is a great blessing for me. It means my life, and it helps me in everything.”

Samuel has also found strength in Scripture. He says, “When I was a child, the sorcerers wanted to eat me in Haiti. I was almost going to die with that witchcraft situation, but God freed me from death!”

Samuel continues, “Thanks to listening to the Bible and watching JESUS Film, my life has changed a lot. When you hear the Word, you are no longer the same person.”
