For as long as Mu Yang* could remember, his extremely rural village in southern China only had one Bible. Since he had the ability to read it when few others could, Mu Yang’s mother asked him to help her church by reading the selected passages of Scripture aloud for the services.

But everything changed many years ago, thanks to the generosity of our friends. Mu Yang remembers the day fondly as he shares, “You friends from overseas provided boxes of Bibles for us. What a gift.”

Mu Yang was among the first to receive a new Bible of his own — in his heart language. He took it home to “practice” reading for the church services. That’s when something unexpected happened. In his words, “The more I read, the more I believed, and the more I wanted to know. In a short time, I gave myself in faith to Jesus, believing He died for me.”

In many villages and communities like Mu Yang’s all over the world, Bibles shared by our generous friends are still changing lives and bearing fruit many years later! Mu Yang’s church has continued to grow since receiving those boxes of Bibles. Now, Mu Yang is an elder who teaches God’s Word to others. He says, “What has happened here is almost a miracle. Many in our community are now followers of Jesus Christ.”

Thanks to the generosity of our partners, our Chinese brothers and sisters are receiving the Bible and coming to faith in Jesus Christ.
