New Bible Translation for the Pere People of Cameroon

50,000 Pere speakers now have God’s Word in their heart language.

It was a day of jubilation for Pere speakers in Cameroon, Africa! The Pere people, who love singing and dancing, recently celebrated receiving a new edition of the Scriptures in their language.

“This means everything to the churches in this area,” said Bakari Etienne, a retired Lutheran pastor in the Adamaoua Region where most of the 50,000 Pere people live. “Now we’ll have our Scriptures in a language that is more understandable to our people.”

Will you praise God along with the Pere people today? Let’s hold up 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (GNT) in prayer and rejoice in God’s provision. May His truth open the eyes of every heart:

“And there is another reason why we always give thanks to God. When we brought you God’s message, you heard it and accepted it, not as a message from human beings but as God’s message, which indeed it is. For God is at work in you who believe.”

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
