Braille Bible Study Adapts to COVID-19

Bible study in Guatemala continues by phone

Few could have predicted just how much the COVID-19 pandemic would turn all our lives upside down. We are so grateful for our financial partners whose faithfulness has helped to ensure that people around the world have God’s Word to turn to for comfort and hope during these unprecedented times, both in traditional printed forms as well as in digital and other specialized media that speak to people’s hearts. We have been inspired by stories of how God’s people adapted and instituted ways to stay connected to the Lord and to each other, even when their original plans didn’t work out.

Just before their country entered lockdown due to COVID-19, the Braille Bible Reading Club in Guatemala had made plans to read the Bible together. But with in-person meetings no longer possible, the group was instead able to organize phone meetings to stay connected and focused on God. Members say that these meetings have helped them get through this difficult time and strengthened their faith each day. “It is wonderful to see how, thanks to some technical innovations, the Bible Society can reach our Blind community so well that the Bible is a light of hope, even in dark times,” says Annelisse Palma, Missionary Programs Manager at the Bible Society.

Thanks to valued friends like you, people in Guatemala and around the world are being impacted by God’s Word, and we are grateful to them for bringing His light and joy into these difficult times.

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
